Board of Directors The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Chamber of Commerce. Elected tominimum one year terms, the directors are nominated by the general membership as well as by the Nominating Committee (a sub-committee of the Board). The Nominating Committee presents its slate at the Annual Meeting. The slate is then voted on by the Chamber membership. The Nominating Committee presents a slate of officers to the entire board and the board then elects the officers. The officers of the Board of Directors comprise the Executive Committee. Members include: the Chamber President, , the Vice-Chairman of the Board, the Treasurer, the Secretary, and the Immediate Past President of the Board. The Executive Committee meets monthly prior to the full Board meeting. Sub-committees of the Board of Directors are established as needed. Membership Services Committee The Membership Committee is a group of chamber members who volunteer their time to promote the Chamber, and recruit new members while trying to keep current members happy. You will see the Membership Chair at each Business After Hours event assisting with sign-in, meeting and greeting. They also make it a point to welcome the guests and the newest members of the Chamber at the networking events. Additionally, the Membership Chair works on enhancing the membership benefits package, on membership information for the newsletter and website, as well as promoting the membership through advertising and PR opportunities. Festival of Trades, Arts and Crafts Committee The Festival of Trades, Arts and Crafts Committee works approximately 6 months each year to organize, promote and execute the annual event, held at the Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village CT. The committee is comprised of a group of volunteers, including Board members, exhibitors, and advertising businesses. The committee organizes the details of the weekend. They determine what entertainment will perform, what special events will occur, who will be in the Food Court, and other specifics of the Festival. Board members representing the local Cable access station, the two local radio stations, and the local weekly papers collaborate on this committee. Nominating and Bylaws Committee The Nominating Committee is responsible for soliciting and educating interested and vested individuals who are willing to serve on the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee as officers of the Chamber of Commerce. These volunteer positions require a commitment of time and energy, since the board drives the momentum and the events of the Chamber. The Bylaws govern the activity of the Chamber as a membership organization and are reviewed and voted on annually, after amendments are brought to the Annual meeting.
